Races Begin

Two big races this past weekend with some of our favorite mushers!

About 70 days left!!!!!!!!! Super excited, still need to go shopping big time though if I want to be warm.

Super job by the students working at the craft fair today.  We're $235 closer to our fundraising goal!

Team Author Names

Students are now selecting pseudonyms that relate in some way to Alaska and/or the Iditarod.  Frozen Banana, Shining Star, Knorthern Lights, ...... yes, we do know how to spell northern!  Creativity and personal connections are a plus.

10. Maine doesn't have enough snow.

9. She’s working her way through the 50 states.  Hawaii is done and now she’s moving on to Alaska.

8.  She’s looking for new recipes. 

7. There are no chocolate waterfalls in Maine. 

6. She’s tired of tiny Maine crabs and wants to check out Alaska king crab.

5. The water parks in Maine aren’t heated. 

4. Her insulated cooking apron hasn’t really been tested.

Students are preparing to write to mushers they've selected by thinking about what they already know and what they'd like to know.  Then the question to be answered is, "How much of that info is already available online?"  We don't want to be asking mushers questions that we can easily find answers to ourselves.  Then......the letter writing will begin!
